You are interested in a lot that is offered in our auction. Or maybe you have already bought one of ours lots. Let’s go through the options when it comes to insuring this lot.

We have a partnership with the renowned equine insurance company Equipe Paardenverzekeringen. For you as a buyer, this means that you can insure the purchased foal, pregnancy or frozen embryo with them for the amount of the final bid.

Pregnancies

Pregnancies can be insured from purchase until the foal is weaned at the age of five months.
If you buy a pregnancy in which the pregnant mare is delivered to you, and the foal will be born in your stables, you are free to decide whether or not to insure it.

If you buy a pregnancy in which the pregnant mare stays with the seller, you as the buyer are obliged to take out this insurance. We feel that in the case the pregnant mare and the mare with the foal at foot are not under your care, you should be assured that a foal will be delivered.

In this case, the costs of the insurance will be offset by the fact that you will not have any expenses for the care of the pregnant mare and the mare with the foal at foot.

Cost
The premium for insurance for a pregnancy from 5 months is 13.2%. In addition to this premium, you will be charged € 75 policy costs plus insurance tax.

Embryos

When you buy a frozen embryo in the auction, it’s up to you whether to insure it or not.

If you insure the embryo, you need to have the transplant carried out by a clinic in Europe, which is accredited by the insurer, at the time you wish.

In the unlikely event that the transplantation of the embryo does not result in pregnancy, you will be paid the insured value. The insurance runs from the moment of purchase until the foal reaches the age of 4 months.

Cost
The premium for a frozen embryo is 45%. In addition to this premium, you will be charged € 75 policy costs plus insurance tax.
